About
Soup and bread began as a regular gathering of college friends, a time to come together over good food and good conversation. Together we would prepare a variety of vegetarian soups, knead doughs into hearty loaves and fill ourselves with soothing soups and lots of laughter. This site was a way to share those recipes and a few stories with friends spread throughout the world. I hope it will grow to include new recipes from new folks carrying on the tradition of sharing good food and stories with good friends.
Soup and Bread is also where I put my own writings on food and agriculture, and general updates on what I’ve been up to (which more often than not has to do with food, or agriculture, or both…)
For the past few seasons I’ve been working on farms, first at Brookwood Community Farm outside of Boston, MA. Now I’m at a Riverhill Farm in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in northern California. Wherever I am, I seem to find a lot of time on the weekends figuring out ways to preserve the bounty of the season’s harvest in soups, jams, salads and everything in between.
